Religious Education at Marlfields
Mrs Gosling is our RE Champion.
Our Marlfields children will be prepared and equipped for life, learning to be accepting and inclusive within the diverse communities we live in. Through a broad and balanced curriculum, they will develop the values of empathy, tolerance, and mutual respect—essential qualities for becoming thoughtful and respectful citizens in today’s Britain. We place a strong emphasis on fostering religious literacy, helping children to understand and appreciate a wide range of beliefs, traditions, and cultures. This not only deepens their knowledge but also encourages open-mindedness and curiosity about the world around them. By promoting dialogue, reflection, and understanding, we aim to nurture a generation that celebrates diversity and contributes positively to society.

If you would like to see how RE develops across the school, take a look at our Marlfields Progressive Religious Education Curriculum below.
Parents have the right to withdraw their child from all or part of the RE curriculum.
We teach Religious Education in a consistent and carefully sequenced way across the school. Each lesson begins by identifying that it is an RE lesson, where we learn about religious beliefs and concepts. Our Marlfields children will be prepared and equipped for life to be accepting in the diverse communities we live in. They will become respectful citizens in today’s Britain, through fostering a depth of knowledge and understanding of religious literacy.
By recapping prior learning, we help children connect new knowledge to what they already know. This ensures learning is progressive and builds towards each lesson’s objective. Our lesson flow is followed in every class to provide clarity, structure and continuity.
Marlfields RE Lesson Flow
Key RE vocabulary has been mapped out for every year group and each topic. This language is taught explicitly to support our children in understanding new concepts with confidence. Important vocabulary from previous years is revisited whenever it is needed to access new learning, ensuring children develop a strong and secure RE-specific vocabulary as they move through school.
