Welcome to Class 1!

Class Teacher: Mrs Blagg

Teaching assistant: Mrs Parry and Miss Sproson

Hello everyone,
My name is Amy Blagg and I’ve had the pleasure of teaching Year 1 for the past six years. I have a wide knowledge and experience in Key Stage 1, and I truly enjoy being a Year 1 teacher—there’s something incredibly special about watching the children grow and develop both academically and personally throughout the year. I can’t wait to see your children flourish as they explore new ideas, build confidence, and discover their unique strengths.

Our classroom is supported by two fantastic teaching assistants: Miss Sproson, who works with us on Mondays and Tuesdays, and Mrs Parry, who joins us on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. Together, we create a warm, engaging environment where every child feels encouraged to learn, thrive, and enjoy their time in school.

Each week, children are given a maths activity to complete at home, along with regular practice on Numbots and reading at least four times a week to help build fluency and confidence. In Year 1, children also take part in the national Phonics Screening Check, which helps assess their progress in decoding and reading skills. We work hard throughout the year to ensure every child feels well-prepared and supported for this important milestone.
Please feel free to come and see me if you have any questions—I’m always happy to help.
