I have worked at Marlfields since 2015 but have been teaching since 1999. Before teaching, I worked for an aerospace company and a bank. I have a caravan in Wales and love spending my free time there.
I’m looking forward to working with your children this year. We have a lot to learn but will have a lot of fun doing it.
Don’t forget to check in on our blog. We will share work and photos of what we are learning.
Parents as partners leaflet
Every term we send a Parents as partners leaflet out. This outlines the learning for the term, including homework expectations, PE and Art days, as well as other necessary information. This information can also be seen on the Class’ termly pages.
In order for your child to learn well, they need to be good readers. It is expected that your child will read at least 3 times per week, but even better every day. They will need to record this in their planners including the page numbers read. Planners will be checked weekly.
Your child’s planner is our main way of communication. If you have a message for me, please prompt your child to hand their planner to me. Their planner contains their login details to different websites and any messages, homework reminders, etc. Please sign the planner weekly so that I know you have checked it. I also use Class Dojo so please make sure that sign up.
Homework in Year 5 is set on a Friday and is due the following Friday. To access it you will need to logon to mymaths.co.uk, spag.com, readtheory.org and TTRockstars. Also remember to practice spellings and read at least 3 times a week. All logins are stuck into your child’s planner.
Most weeks our PE lesson will be on a Wednesday but please ensure that your child’s PE kit is in school EVERYDAY!
