Class 3

Welcome to Class 3

My name is Mrs Pearce and I have worked at Marlfields since September 2015. This will be my 19th year of teaching and I still love my job. Before teaching I was an au pair, a secretary and a PA. My favourite thing to do is spending time with my family at my caravan in Wales.

For up-to-date photos and what we are learning in class, please check our class blog by clicking the link at the top of the Marlfields’ webpage.

Parents as partners leaflet

Every term we send a Parents as partners leaflet out. This outlines the learning for the term, including homework expectations, PE and Art days, as well as other necessary information. This information can also be seen on the Class’ termly pages.

In order for your child to learn well, they need to be good readers. It is expected that your child will read at least 3 times per week, but even better every day. Planners will be checked weekly.  They will need to record this in their planners including the page numbers read.

Your child’s planner is our main way of communication. If you have a message for me, please prompt your child to hand their planner to me. Their planner contains their login details to different websites and any messages, homework reminders, etc. Please sign their planner weekly so that I know you have checked it.

Playtime snacks

The children may choose to bring their own healthy snack for morning break or have a school snack. If your child would like to have a school snack, please send the money in on a Monday morning in a clearly marked envelope which states whether they would prefer milk or juice.

In Year 3, the children begin their swimming lessons. These take place at the Leisure Centre in Congleton on a Wednesday afternoon. Your child is also expected to have their PE kit in school all week. They should have both an indoor and outdoor kit. Marlfields’ PE kit consists of:

A red t-shirt

Black or navy shorts

School tracksuit

Black pumps

Every week your child will be given English, Maths and Spelling homework. English and Maths homework will be handed out on a Friday and is expected to be handed in on the following Friday. The majority of this homework will be online. The children’s logins are in their planners. Spellings will be written by the children in their planners on a Monday and tested on Friday. It is expected that the children will practice their spellings at home as well as in school.
